You have to keep momentum and the initiative. The S can really screw you. Also having the King is good, since there are so many points in the Royal suit.If you have a lot of one pip suit, but there are some missing teeth at the top, Bishop is the better play, since low Bishop cards are still powerful. Once you lose initiative in Peasant, having a lot of cards in a suit that is never led is not an advantage. If you have the top three cards in two pip suits, that’s probably a strong Peasant hand, I think.

Apple's new iPad Pro and iPad Air now rumored to arrive in May

29 March 2024 @ 4:06 am

Apple's oft-rumored but not yet unveiled next-generation iPad Pro and iPad Air models are now said to be arriving in early May. The new iPad Pro tablets will have OLED screens, as leaked countless times so far, while the iPad Air will for the first time in history be a series, not a lone device, as it will be offered in two sizes just like the iPad Air line. It's been about a year and a half since the introduction of the previous iPad Pros, and this marks the longest stretch in the history of Apple's tablets without a new release. The wait will definitely be worth it, as the OLED screens...

Samsung Care+ will include unlimited battery repairs from May

29 March 2024 @ 2:29 am

Samsung's Care+ protection plans in the US will come with unlimited battery repairs starting in May. This will be bundled into the benefits of both Care+ and Care+ with Theft and Loss tiers. There are, however, two caveats to keep in mind. First, this will make both plans $2 more expensive per month. Second, and perhaps most importantly, you'll only be eligible for a battery repair if your device's battery health is at 79% or lower, "as indicated by a diagnostic test". Oh, and there also has to be "no additional damage to the covered device" present. This repair option will be available...

iPhone 12 gets 15W Qi2 wireless charging support with iOS 17.4

29 March 2024 @ 12:17 am

Apple released iOS 17.4 earlier this month, and the big news about it was its compliance with the new EU Digital Markets Act, but it looks like that wasn't the only big thing hiding inside this update. In fact, the new software seems to have unlocked support for the Qi2 wireless charging standard. According to testing conducted by Macworld, the iPhone 12 with iOS 17.4 now charges wirelessly at 15W when magnetically connected to a Qi2 charger that isn't Apple's MagSafe. Previously, in such a scenario, wireless charging would be limited to 7.5W, so the jump is quite substantial. Back...

Interestingly, the Edge 50 Ultra renders you can see below have an April 3 date on the screen as well, just like the others. This could mean all three devices are set to be introduced next week. However, April 3 is next Wednesday, and these renders say "Tue Apr 3" so...

OnePlus 12 vs. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

28 March 2024 @ 8:01 pm

So, you've decided to really treat yourself and get a true flagship heavy-hitter. Welcome to the big leagues, and particularly the interesting showdown between Samsung's still relatively "hot off the presses" January-release Galaxy S24 Ultra and the best OnePlus currently has to offer in the OnePlus 12. It is admittedly a bit older and technically came out last year in December 2023, but that has mostly resulted in a nice and steady depreciation in price, and it does not actually take away from the truly premium nature of the OnePlus 12. The two devices are definitely worthy of rubbing...

Google Pixel 8 will get on-device Gemini Nano AI after all

28 March 2024 @ 5:13 pm

When it announced Gemini, Google also revealed its tiers, one of which is called Nano and runs entirely on-device. The company initially wanted to gatekeep Gemini Nano and only make it available for the Pixel 8 Pro, even though the 'vanilla' Pixel 8 has the same chipset. A lot of online backlash ensued, and what do you know - Google has now changed its tune. Apparently it is possible to bring Gemini Nano to the Pixel 8, and it will arrive as a developer preview with the next Pixel Feature Drop, which is expected in June. Google noted that it's noticed a lot of "excitement" for...
