a-fact wins competition for Montenegro museum inspired by surrounding mountains

A group led by Milan/London-based a-fact has won an international competition for the design of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Natural History Museum, and Park of Arts & Culture in Podgorica, Montenegro. New-York Historical Society opens 'Lost New York,' a remembrance of structures lost to time

The New-York Historical Society recently launched Lost New York, an exhibition exploring the ever-changing palimpsest of the city’s built environment. 90 different historical photos, paintings, and other media document its transformation into a global metropolis. Lost relics such as the original Madison Square Garden, old Yankee Stadium, the 1853–54 Crystal Palace, Croton Distributing Reservoir, and Penn Station appear along with first-hand witness depictions of city life as it was during the time of their prominence as civic landmarks. 

Twelve superlative projects earn RAIC National Urban Design Award honors for 2024

The 2024 recipients of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC)’s National Urban Design Awards have been announced. They include twelve new projects in six provinces, each with a marked ability to advance the discipline and improve the quality of life for a broad range of Canadian communities, both large and small. The bi-annual honors are presented in unison with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA). The Awards jury stated: "The submissions were consistently very high quality, and focused on many of the topics we as designers are all focusing on in our ever-changing world

The shortlist finalists for the 2024 Davidson Prize have been announced as part of the annual contest’s third edition, whose theme is 'Rethinking Home — Adapt and Reuse.'The field that was selected from the proposals included in this month’s longlist announcement were each asked to develop ideas for new homes made from recycled materials or using retrofitting methods on existing structures. Each finalist will receive honorariums worth a total of £5,000 ($8,160 USD) each to develop their proposals further toward the £10,000 ($12,500) final prize.
