Sayeh Residential Building / Ali Haghighi Architects

17 May 2024 @ 8:00 pm

This project was referred to us at a time when its structure was based on a neoclassical design. The client’s request was to revise the design of the plans and facade in a modern style. This building has 5 residential units with an area of 330 square meters on each floor, one residential unit on the ground floor near the lobby, and three underground floors. According to the existing structure and the implementation of basement ramps in order to provide maximum parking on the mentioned floors, the common areas of the building include a sports space and a communal space with a movable roof on the roof and adjacent to the roof garden.

The Diwan Pavilion / AXIA Design Associates + Arriz + Co. + Kasian Architecture Interior Design & Planning

17 May 2024 @ 4:00 pm

The Diwan is a year-round pavilion and event space for the University of Alberta Botanic Gardens and the final piece to complete the 4.8-hectare Aga Khan Garden, Alberta. The site of the pavilion was designated in the original concept plan for the Garden, inaugurated in 2018.  In addition to providing multi-use functionality, the pavilion was to resonate with its rich surroundings and extend the themes of the Garden, a contemporary interpretation of Islamic landscape architecture in a northern climate and context.  The pavilion was designed to complement the spirit of the Garden’s design, heritage, and experience. The term diwan has varied historical definitions, and here implies a space for meeting, cultural exchange, and celebration.

AVA House / Irina Biletska

17 May 2024 @ 2:00 pm

Located in a tranquil coastal village in southern Bahia, Brazil, this house harmoniously integrates with the lush Atlantic Forest, embracing the region's humid tropical climate. Its main purpose is to offer a healthy, welcoming, and environmentally friendly environment, prioritizing solutions that minimize dependence on conventional energy resources.

Dune Villa West aan Zee / 2by4-architects B.V.

17 May 2024 @ 12:00 pm

The challenge of this project was to create a sustainable vacation home on Terschelling, seamlessly integrating into the dune landscape of West Aan Zee while maximizing the breathtaking views. The result is a restrained and intimate dwelling, whose design and material selection harmoniously blend with its surroundings. The metaphor of the "hermit" guided the concept: an ostensibly closed natural structure nestled in the sand, yet upon closer inspection, revealed surprises.

Cast Corbel House / Grafted

17 May 2024 @ 10:00 am

Situated in the Golden Triangle, a verdant suburban area of Norwich, Cast Corbel House has been redesigned and crafted by Norwich and East London-based architects, Grafted. The newly refurbished home features a rear extension with an updated geometric precast and brick façade that celebrates material exploration and craftsmanship. Grafted launched in 2022 as a design and build firm, realizing an opportunity to produce ambitious architecture whilst simultaneously creating highly crafted design.

Space as a Collaborator for Design: Get to Know the Works of Davidson Rafailidis

17 May 2024 @ 7:30 am

There's something quite exciting about imagining how a particular space within an existing built form can dictate its use and vice-versa, how the function of a determined space can shape the space's appearance, and the endless possibilities that this entails. This reciprocal process is a concept we often find in the works of the experimental architecture duo Davidson Rafailidis, whose projects evidence a thorough understanding of the existing form that results in a careful and thoughtful ensemble of dynamic architecture.

Bentway Staging Grounds / Agency-Agency + SHEEEP

17 May 2024 @ 7:00 am

Bentway Staging Grounds is a new type of public infrastructure that blends art and education, public space and experimentation, repositioning unused space beneath the Gardiner Expressway as a site of environmental regeneration. The design team, led by architectural designer Tei Carpenter (Agency-Agency, NYC) and architect/artist Reza Nik (SHEEEP, Toronto), transformed the vacant site into a living laboratory that educates visitors about urban ecology and stormwater management.

17 May 2024 @ 6:45 am

In a new collaboration, Trimo and Pininfarina have introduced the Qbiss Notch Wall System, setting a new standard in architectural design. This partnership marries Trimo's expertise in engineering with Pininfarina's legacy of design innovation, presenting a prefabricated modular metal wall system that promises to redefine the aesthetic and functional landscape of modern architecture.

Architect Alberto Campo Baeza and Chronobiology Professor Till Roenneberg Receive the Daylight Award 2024

17 May 2024 @ 6:30 am

In Copenhagen, during the 2024 UNESCO International Day of Light, The Daylight Award has announced Spanish architect and professor Alberto Campo Baeza as the laureate for the architecture category and German professor of chronobiology Till Roenneberg for his scientific research regarding the impact of daylight. The two categories create an interdisciplinary bridge between fields, grounding architectural thinking with high-level research. The two winners have been commended for scientific investigations into issues like circadian rhythms and dependencies in the case of Professor Roenneberg, and the poetic qualities obtained through the use of daylight in

Raw House / Todot Architects and Partners

17 May 2024 @ 6:00 am

The site is located on the mountainside with a view of the ridge in the distance, and the mountain terrain in the front with the sun behind gives off a bright and colorful light that allows people to feel nature intact. The first thought the design team had when looking at the site was what the attitude of accepting nature as it is without damaging it would be, the attitude of living in nature, and what the architecture reflecting them would look like. The height difference of the site was more than two stories, and it accesses the road at the higher side, but the flat ground suitable for building a house was small. The site was barely big enough for a yard, and it was a hill.

The Bank of England – Free From Government Control

30 March 2024 @ 12:48 pm

The Bank of England is a private corporation. The evidence demonstrating the fact is all in the public domain, if you care to look. It runs the UK like its own private business. Power in the UK does not reside with the politician's a few of us elect. We are sold a seemingly never ending stream of lies, such as the lie that we do not have a codified written constitution, or the lie that the UK Prime Minister runs the country. Perhaps one of the most egregious is that the Bank of England is a "public corporation" that is wholly "owned" by the government.
