Transformation of commercial premises with a reduced surface area. The program required the optimization of a small 50 m2 space for a variety of simultaneous uses. The intervention is based on maximum purification plus the incorporation of bespoke furniture elements that relate to each other. The geometric adaptation of the pieces produces a series of synergies that, around a pillar, allow for different spatial configurations and cease to be an obstacle.

Floods in Rio Grande do Sul: The Tragedy of Non-Resilient Cities

18 May 2024 @ 7:30 am

Pharmacy Plus / fortytwelve

18 May 2024 @ 6:00 am

The design concept for Pharmacy Plus was to create an innovative pharmacy retail experience that has not been seen before in the region. The goal was to blend modern elements with a futuristic touch, creating a space that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The use of cool and grey tones creates a sense of serenity and sophistication, while the touch of Alpi wood balances out the coolness throughout the interior. The design successfully combines clean and modern details with a futuristic touch, resulting in a visually striking ambiance that embodies innovation and offers a potential glimpse into the future of pharmacy stores.

Sayeh Residential Building / Ali Haghighi Architects

17 May 2024 @ 8:00 pm

This project was referred to us at a time when its structure was based on a neoclassical design. The client’s request was to revise the design of the plans and facade in a modern style. This building has 5 residential units with an area of 330 square meters on each floor, one residential unit on the ground floor near the lobby, and three underground floors. According to the existing structure and the implementation of basement ramps in order to provide maximum parking on the mentioned floors, the common areas of the building include a sports space and a communal space with a movable roof on the roof and adjacent to the roof garden.

The Diwan Pavilion / AXIA Design Associates + Arriz + Co. + Kasian Architecture Interior Design & Planning

17 May 2024 @ 4:00 pm

The Diwan is a year-round pavilion and event space for the University of Alberta Botanic Gardens and the final piece to complete the 4.8-hectare Aga Khan Garden, Alberta. The site of the pavilion was designated in the original concept plan for the Garden, inaugurated in 2018.  In addition to providing multi-use functionality, the pavilion was to resonate with its rich surroundings and extend the themes of the Garden, a contemporary interpretation of Islamic landscape architecture in a northern climate and context.  The pavilion was designed to complement the spirit of the Garden’s design, heritage, and experience. The term diwan has varied historical definitions, and here implies a space for meeting, cultural exchange, and celebration.

Dune Villa West aan Zee / 2by4-architects B.V.

17 May 2024 @ 12:00 pm

The challenge of this project was to create a sustainable vacation home on Terschelling, seamlessly integrating into the dune landscape of West Aan Zee while maximizing the breathtaking views. The result is a restrained and intimate dwelling, whose design and material selection harmoniously blend with its surroundings. The metaphor of the "hermit" guided the concept: an ostensibly closed natural structure nestled in the sand, yet upon closer inspection, revealed surprises.
