What's the worst health advice youve been given by your relatives?

29 May 2026 @ 9:15 pm

 - My MIL swears by Vicks on the soles of your feet for the flu "because feet skin absorb the most and the vicks draws out the toxins" (thought foot skin was famously quite thick, honestly). - My late mother's suggested a used tea bag on a surgical wound that went down to the bone, which normally had to be packed and dressed with proper wound care. - MIL insisted germolene and an icepack on a bacterial mosquito bite infection that needed antibiotics. - FIL suggested germolene on a knife wound, which actually required a saline wash and some stitches. A warning about cash buyers

29 May 2026 @ 7:05 pm

I’m in complete disbelief. Our seemingly perfect cash buyers have pulled out at the last minute, crashing our chain. I want to share how they weaponised their status so others can avoid the same trap. Like any seller, we were delighted to get an offer from a couple who had sold up and gone into rental. They negotiated hard, but we settled on a figure slightly under asking, accepting the discount because they were chain-free cash buyers. Their offer came with a strict condition: we had to complete within 12 weeks. Tight but doable. A week later, we had an offer accepted on our onward purchase. Then came a solicitor’s letter demanding we complete in 4 weeks instead. Not wanting to lose them, we threw everything into making it happen, shelling out fast for search fees, surveys, and rushing conveyancing. Because of this artificial pressure, we (and our sellers) got deeply, financially committed very quickly.

Netherlands Seizes 800 Servers, Arrests 2 for Aiding Cyberattacks

25 May 2026 @ 1:21 pm

Authorities in the Netherlands have arrested the co-owners of two related Internet hosting companies for operating IT infrastructure used by Russia to carry out cyberattacks, influence operations and disinformation campaigns inside the European Union. The two men were the focus of a 2025 KrebsOnSecurity story about how their hosting companies had assumed control over the technical infrastructure of Stark Industries Solutions, an Internet service provider sanctioned last year by the EU as a frequent staging ground for cyber mischief from Russia's intelligence agencies.

Lawmakers Demand Answers as CISA Tries to Contain Data Leak

The inquiry comes as CISA is still struggling to contain the breach and invalidate the leaked credentials.

Alleged Kimwolf Botmaster ‘Dort’ Arrested, Charged in U.S. and Canada

21 May 2026 @ 9:50 pm

Canadian authorities on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old Ottawa man on suspicion of building and operating Kimwolf, a fast spreading Internet-of-Things botnet that enslaved millions of devices for use in a series of massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks over the past six months. KrebsOnSecurity publicly named the suspect in February 2026 after the accused launched a volley of DDoS, doxing and swatting campaigns against this author and a security researcher. He now faces criminal hacking charges in both Canada and the United States.

CISA Admin Leaked AWS GovCloud Keys on Github

18 May 2026 @ 8:48 pm

Until this past weekend, a contractor for the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) maintained a public GitHub repository that exposed credentials to several highly privileged AWS GovCloud accounts and a large number of internal CISA systems. Security experts said the public archive included files detailing how CISA builds, tests and deploys software internally, and that it represents one of the most egregious government data leaks in recent history.

Patch Tuesday, May 2026 Edition

12 May 2026 @ 9:46 pm

Artificial intelligence platforms may be just as susceptible to social engineering as human beings, but they are proving remarkably good at finding security vulnerabilities in human-made computer code. That reality is on full display this month with some of the more widely-used software makers -- including Apple, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla and Oracle -- fixing near record volumes of security bugs, and/or quickening the tempo of their patch releases.

The firm's chief executive says the malicious activity resulted from a security breach and was likely the work of a competitor trying to tarnish his company's public image.

Microsoft today pushed software updates to fix a staggering 167 security vulnerabilities in its Windows operating systems and related software, including a SharePoint Server zero-day and a publicly disclosed weakness in Windows Defender dubbed "BlueHammer."
