Reply: Design Theory:: Re: Deck Building vs Bag Building: a difference in components, or design?

5 March 2026 @ 1:21 pm

by MPSFerlet While the mechanical distinctions between deck and bag builders often dominate design theory, the practical realities of cost, space, and manufacturing frequently dictate the final choice of components. As several users noted, tokens are generally more space-efficient on the table and in the box, preventing games from becoming "table hogs," which is crucial for titles with large player counts or expansive boards. From a production standpoint, while cards allow for rich artwork and complex text that drive consumer appeal, simple tokens can be significantly cheaper to manufacture and ship, especially if the game requires hundreds of identical units. Ultimately, a designer might prefer the tactile randomness of a bag for gameplay, but if the component needs to convey unique, evolving information or if the budget relies on the visual allure of illustrated cards, the "deck" format often wins out despite the extra sh

by Puma85 But who goes first deciding which lure to use? We have had an unclear situation because two players were tied and both had the -1/+1 lure. There have been two fish cards in play which required special dice (one fish wanting 1 and 1 and the other wanting 2, 3, 4). Both players could not meet these conditions without using the lure but could meet both conditions (but only one at a time) with the -1/+1 lure. The has been a weird situation because we had to make some kind of deal how to use the lure...

The phones are still on for March 11, but the tablet will be launching a day early, on March 10, instead. According to Xiaomi officials, this is due to "overwhelmingly positive response and high demand", though it is just one day we're talking about, so we're not sure what real impact that will have. This process reveals that, in China, it will be shipped with a 100W wired charger (which will most likely be missing from the box in some international markets like Europe). That's pretty good evidence that the phone itself will support 100W wired charging. It's also been rumored to support 50W wireless charging, but this certification hasn't confirmed that.
