15 January 2026 @ 1:50 pm

by hk154 Another option is to look at the designers other games. Codex naturalis is very good and has a similar feel to it. But I agree splendor is another example, although I do prefer knarr of the 2. As previously mentioned, the "fans also like" can be good, but can also throw in some wild cards. Personally, I try not to have too many games with very similar mechanics as it can result in your group preferring one out of them, due to theme or better gameplay. But this is personal preference/experience of course. It also allows space for other games, as that will likely soon be a factor if you have limited storage space haha

15 January 2026 @ 1:49 pm

by nbsp1618 the original "bronx is burning" scenario ran from 1965-1985. unfortunately there isn't a proper map state for 1965 so you'd have to use either the 1960 or 1970 setup. the idea though is that you do four cards from the 60s, a normal eight card deck for the 70s and then four cards from the 80s. you add the census cards and do a final one (though technically not a census) after the last card of the 80s.i should note this hasn't been tested or played in years now and is probably wildly unbalanced, unfair and punishing. but what it was attempting to do back then is leave the consequences on the board. the shorter decades can truly be devastating because of the lack of time to actually deal with issues. it creates a tension that for the game model felt representative of the period.as always thanks for taking the time with the game,nb

Motorola Moto G (2026) in for review

14 January 2026 @ 10:31 pm

This is the Moto G (2026) and came out in early November, and has been on sale since last month. It's very similar to its predecessor, with only slight changes to the specs sheet. We'll call them quality of life type upgrades - you get twice the base storage at 128GB and a slightly bigger 5,200mAh battery. Oh, and the selfie camera has doubled from a 16MP unit to a 32MP one with a brighter f/2.2 lens. The rest of the specs are nearly identical - a 6.7-inch IPS LCD with 1,000 nits of brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Even the chipset is the same 6nm Dimensity 6300 with 4GB of...

Nothing Phone (4a) series to have improved storage, possibly higher prices

14 January 2026 @ 9:03 pm

Nothing CEO Carl Pei today confirmed that "some products", launching before the end of March, will have UFS 3.1 storage. This quite obviously refers to the Phone (4a) series, though which exact device(s) will be blessed with UFS 3.1 storage and which will miss out remains to be seen. Last year, the Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro launched in early March, which is why we assume that their successors are what Pei is talking about. Those devices use UFS 2.2 storage, a decision which Nothing explained at the time as not being "about cutting costs, but about putting resources...

Samsung Galaxy S26's charging speed may surprise you

14 January 2026 @ 7:31 pm

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has long been rumored to up its wired charging capacity to 60W. The S26+ was supposedly staying at 45W just like the S25+, and the S26 at 25W like the S25. But today a new rumor claims the vanilla Galaxy S26 will actually go up to 45W, matching the Plus model. Of course it remains to be seen what this means in practice in terms of an actual improvement in charging time, but it's a good move nonetheless. The Galaxy S26 and S26+ are both said to be using the Exynos 2600 chipset, though it's not mentioned whether it will make an appearance in some markets only....
