New comment on Item for GeekList "Mini reviews and comparison of my played campaign games"

12 February 2026 @ 9:55 pm

by dcooley Related Item: They're Coming Consider Kinfire Chronicles, Night’s End. Especially if you like Dragon Eclipse. These are lighter rules wise than a lot of big campaigns, and have a lot of fun systems that I’ve enjoyed. If you want to see KFC (haha) in a smaller format, you can try one of the Kinfire Delve games, all are good. DE has you catching new pets to help you to (wait for it) catch new pets. Nice and whimsical, as is KFC, and you can play one or two characters. I particularly enjoy DE’s non-skirmish time-based system for exploration. So many good systems. I’m also a fan of Chronicles of Drunagor as well as Tanares Ultimate. If you’re interested in a five game campaign likely finishable in an evening, look at Horizon Zero Dawn. Just try the core, and if you want to add more stuff you can.

12 February 2026 @ 9:55 pm

by davidhorm I own both, and will probably keep both. I recommend Hot Streak for non-gamers.My favorite is HS because it gives me the high energy each time. It could be because I'm the one flipping the cards and calling the race, and everybody else feeds off of my energy. I haven't tried calling the race in Ready Set Bet yet because I prefer to be a player (so we play via app). My core gaming group prefers RSB. I didn't ask why, but probably because it's more strategic. There is way more betting spots, and the real time aspect of it is fun. It's (a "fun" kind of) annoying when I'm watching the screen, then wanting to make a bet only to see that betting spot already taken. I got the High Roller deluxe edition, so that's another reason why I'm keeping it in my collection. That edition is a large box, so I won't casually bring it to another location. HS is a small enough box that's easy to b

12 February 2026 @ 9:54 pm

by Steve496 The biggest change in B&C (and JE), from which all other changes flow, are the events and tokens. Should you add the new power cards? Yes, if you're playing with tokens. Should you play the new spirits? Yes, if playing with tokens. Should you add the new blight cards? Yes, if playing with events (and thus tokens). And so on.So I think the most important thing to introduce is the events and tokens. It is the biggest change, and the most foundational change, and a lot of the new content won't really work without them. There are a few spirits (Shifting Memory and Starlight come to mind) that can played without any of the new stuff, and some of the adversaries (like Habsburg Livestock) don't rely on them either... but most things do. So I'd shuffle in the fear cards and the power cards and the blight cards and start playing with the events and using the tokens... and play with whatever spiri
