One of the biggest announcements from yesterdayâs Google Android Show I/O Edition event was the all-new Googlebook laptop lineup, which will essentially replace Chromebooks.
The highlight feature of the Googlebook is Magic Pointer, which allows users to bring up Google Gemini simply by moving their cursor around on the screen. Once the Magic Pointer is evoked, it brings up a host of contextual AI features, which can read your screen and use Gemini AI to complete tasks without going to a separate tab or app.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide will slot in between the Z Flip and Z Fold â it will be a horizontal foldable, but it will be smaller and will open to reveal a wider aspect ratio screen than Z Fold8âs squarish proportions. But will this device be closer to the Flip or to the Fold in terms of hardware?
Well, as far as cameras are concerned, the answer is âcloser to the Flipâ. According to a report published by GalaxyClub and SamMobile, the Wide will have a 50MP f/1.8 main camera rather than a 200MP sensor like the regular Z Fold.

The Sony Xperia 1 VIII was announced bright and early in the morning and â in typical Sony fashion â the new model wonât actually ship until mid-June. Thatâs later than the Mark 7 and the Mark 6, which were announced in mid-May and released in early June. But if you have your heart set on it, you can pre-order one today.

Xiaomi has taken curtains off the latest addition to its 17 series, the Xiaomi 17 Max, which is confirmed to launch in China later this month. Alongside revealing the new model, the company has also teased its design and color options. The smartphone is also available for pre-order in China.
The Xiaomi 17 Max will feature a flat 6.9-inch display with slim bezels on all four sides. The phone will also sport a four-curved middle frame and a squircle-shaped rear camera module.

The Android Show I/O Edition 2026 saw Google announce the new Googlebook and Gemini Intelligence. Google also announced several creator-focused features that are coming to Android 17.
With Android 17, Google is introducing a new feature called Screen Reactions for both creators and everyday users. As the name suggests, the feature lets you record the screen and your front camera feed simultaneously, making it easy to add live reactions to whatever is happening on the screen.

Yesterday, Samsung announced that the first One UI 9 beta will start rolling out in several regions later this week, but the English-language press release was murky on the timeline. The iQOO 15T has already surfaced in several teasers and leaks, and we now have a launch date to look forward to. The brand confirmed that the 15T is set to debut in China on May 20 at 7PM local time.

Samsung released the stable One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy Z TriFold last week, but it was rolling out only in South Korea. The good news is that the rollout has now expanded to three more countries - Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE.
