Thread: Prussian Rails:: General:: Saturated Economy and player incomes

18 September 2025 @ 10:59 am

by Ryucoo Jumped back into this one after picking up the recent reprint, and had a mind-melting blast. However, I don't remember it being so loose economically. In our five player game, two players had far exceeded the income track limit of 52 and final scores were all well over $300, with the winner closer to $500 - quite a contrast to the tight money seen in most cube rail games. To get the obvious out the way, we played dividend payouts correctly (paying out only when a RR makes a connection to another RR for the first time), and awarded the dividend bonus only to the active RR's shareholders. So if mistakes were made, I don't think it was there. Q1: Is there any reason the rules describe the payment of dividends thus: "All 8 Railroads now pay Dividends to their shareholders. The Dividend paid from the bank for each share of Railroad stock is the income of that railroad, as shown on the R

by GruenesFeuer Personally, I wouldn't dream of picking up new players without also giving them an equivalently thorough explanation of the rules. When I introduce new players (Warning: That means experienced board gamers who just haven't played Heat yet), I start with the upgrades and weather immediately. Out of fairness, I make sure to explain the upgrades well, and even assist by recommending good ones they would probably be able to utilize properly.Really, I effectively try to bridge some of the experience gap by forecasting what playpatterns will be essential. If they make very egregious misplays that would throw them out of the game, I tend to explain the mistake and the expected play with reasoning, and let them undo (perhaps with a mild penalty like paying a Heat or no slipstreaming). They'll most likely not win anyway, but that's how you get people up to speed very quickly, without risking them sideli

It's unclear if any devices will get an update on that day or not, but hopefully the rollout will start immediately - after all, Android 16 has been out since June, this is a terrible update pace on Oppo's part.
