If you left belongings in a taxi, would you expect the taxi driver to return them for free?

25 April 2024 @ 7:24 pm

Question based on a post I saw on another social media platform for the local area. The story is that someone had "lost all faith in humanity" after she left her phone in a taxi and was appalled that instead of offering to bring it back to her at no charge, they only offered for her to pick it up from the depot or pay the fare from wherever the closest taxi was at the time. The comments seemed 50/50 on whether the taxi company was heinous and should be named and shamed so others could avoid them, and asking her why she felt the taxi driver should lose out on fuel and fares to cover her mistake. I know where I stand on this, what about you Casual UK Redditors? submitted by /u/infantile-eloquence to r/CasualUK

Council offered us temporary accommodation (hotel) an hour away from school 14 days before GCSE. What can I do?

Hi, I’m a 16 year old boy with GCSEs in 14 days. The council, rather than renewing our Travelodge booking, offered us temporary accommodation over an hour away. When I say “offered” I mean forced. They say if we don’t accept this not only do we pay for the hotel, we will be left on the streets. We have one more day in the close to scholl hotel and the council is closed.
